The most recent acquisition in the Jamie’s Italian collection of restaurants will be opening in the Maltings, St Albans, in Spring 2012. One of several eating establishments in the 23,225 sq m Maltings Shopping Centre, Jamie’s Italian will be located within what was the Bell Public House, an 18th century coaching inn.
The restaurant will be spread over 5030 sq m of space on the first and ground floors and will also have an external seating area. The Bell Pub has been closed for a number of years and this new tenant is a significant part of the effort to revitalise the Chequers Street end of the Maltings complex.
The idea behind Jamie’s Italian is to create an accessible and affordable venue with a local feel, where people can relax and enjoy each other’s company as well as exceptional food made with simple, fresh ingredients, prepared and cooked with love and passion.
Guy Calver, Property Manager for EFM Asset Management comments: “Jamie’s Italian is an excellent supplement to the Maltings. On completion of the refurbishment , the restaurant’s historic setting and appealing menu will be extremely popular and add new interest to this thriving shopping centre and town”.
